WeitzWay

This is How We Build A Better Way

From our first interaction with clients through project closeout, WeitzWay is all about delivering value and eliminating waste during the construction process. It's a discipline that encompasses all of today's fundamental build qualities. What separates Weitz from the competition is our ability to effectively align and elevate these practices to meet the specific needs (and wants) of every client. The end result is a project experience that is impossible to duplicate.

Safety

Lead with Safety

We believe safety is a culture and a commitment. To that end, we live by our "Lead with Safety" philosophy. "Lead with Safety" means the value we place on safety is illustrated by our words and our actions, regardless of other job pressures.

Training

Weitz is committed to providing OSHA 30-hour safety training to all operations, estimating, preconstruction and executive staff. Since January 1, 2015, over 1,200 Weitz employees have completed the training. Additionally, all Weitz operations staff are required to have a current certification in CPR, First Aid and AED.

Mobile & On-Site Safety Training Trailers

Regardless of project size or location, Weitz is able to train employees, subcontractors, clients, student organizations and non-profit entities in safe work practices. Mobile safety training trailers are deployed to educate our construction partners on safe work practices related to topics such as personal protective equipment, fall protection, electrical safety and new OSHA silica standards.

Annual Safety Boot Camps

Each year, Weitz conducts Safety Boot Camps in each of its locations to reaffirm our "Lead With Safety" commitment. Safety Boot Camps are occasionally conducted at project sites to provide hands-on training opportunities for employees. Past topics have included defining "Lead With Safety" commitments for all positions, Behavior Based Safety and standardization of deviation.

Leading Indicators

Leading indicators provide early warning signs of potential failure, and thus enable identification and correction of safety deficiencies before they mature into accidents and injuries. Employees conduct mobile safety audits with observations feeding into a centralized reporting system.

Behavior Based Safety (BBS)

Behavior Based Safety is a process that continually focuses people's attention and actions on daily safety behavior for both themselves and those working around them. BBS is designed to prevent injuries beyond a traditional safety program using a systematic approach.

Customer Advocacy

Our job is first, and foremost, about our customers. Keeping our customers at the forefront helps us determine what project success really looks like, long before the first piece of construction equipment arrives on the jobsite.

This goes beyond cost, schedule and quality. It's about relationships, innovation, efficiency, empowerment and learning. We work with our clients to uncover their expectations to reveal other pressures, challenges and concerns that face them in the process of building their project.

We respond by developing solutions and taking steps to address these needs, help achieve their goals and complete projects efficiently and safely.

Lean

Lean is more than just a systematic approach to maximizing quality and minimizing risk. With advancements in technology, the opportunities to drive down costs and help clients make quicker decisions has reached new heights with stronger ROI capabilities.

Last Planner® System

All construction projects are unique and complex. Our collaborative project approach is built upon the foundation of Lean principles. On Weitz projects, leveraging the Last Planner® System enables a more predictable workflow, elimination of waste in the planning process, enhanced communication and collaboration, reduction in rework, improved safety planning, and increased level of quality.

Key Benefits:

  • More predictable workflow
  • Elimination of waste
  • Enhanced communication
  • Reduction in rework
  • Improved safety planning
  • Increased quality

Quality

Our goal is to build quality into your project from the earliest moment of preconstruction to the last moment of execution during the build phase. We achieve this by working collaboratively with designers, engineers and subcontractors every step of the way and by using a prescribed method to prepare, meet, mockup, inspect and then follow-up.

Key Benefits:

  • Early quality integration
  • Collaborative approach
  • Prescribed methodology
  • Continuous inspection
  • Quality assurance

Technology

Whether you are in a meeting, on the job site or traveling, the technology tools we leverage are focused on eliminating waste in the day-to-day construction process and providing you with the information you need, when you need it. On-demand access to real-time updates and project information elevates the quality of collaboration among project team members.

Key Benefits:

  • Real-time updates
  • On-demand access
  • Waste elimination
  • Enhanced collaboration
  • Better decision-making

Virtual Design & Construction

Based on the unique challenges and goals that have been identified on your project, we'll work as a team to select the best Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) tools, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), to ensure success. The benefits realized from the use of VDC tools include enhanced communication, visual planning, continual improvements, and increased predictability.

Key Benefits:

  • Enhanced visualization
  • Virtual mockups
  • Better planning
  • Project innovation
  • Increased predictability

We focus on aligning the tools in our technology toolbelt to support the needs of you and your project in a focused effort to provide quality, schedule and cost assurance as well as increased project planning and decision-making capabilities.
